Rebirth of Wei Wenjin of the Tang Dynasty
Wei Wenjin, his background is unknown. He served as an official in the Tang Dynasty, reaching the position of "Inspector" (responsible for supervising the behavior of subordinates). He established a Nianfo (Amitabha-recitation) centre and dedicated himself to the Pure Land practice, aspiring to be reborn in the Western Pure Land. One day, while reciting Amitabha Buddha's name, he sat in the lotus position and attained rebirth, with a mysterious fragrance filling the room. (The Buddha’s Chronicle)
