Rebirth of Bhikkhuni Cheng Jing (Ming Dynasty)

Cheng Jing. Her courtesy name was Shi Xiu. She was from Donggang, Guangzhou. She had observed the precepts since childhood. Later, she became a nun and received the full precepts. She practiced the method of chanting Amitabha Buddha’s name without stopping. She once encouraged the public to make a sandalwood statue of the Thousand-armed Thousand-eyed Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara. The next year, she had a minor illness and knew that the time of her rebirth was coming. She told her disciples, “The Thousand-armed Thousand-eyed Great Compassionate Avalokitesvara is here to take me away. I am leaving!” After saying this, she closed her eyes and attained rebirth.
