FAQ: What happens when we have bad thoughts that make us feel like a bad person, and also during Nianfo?

As ordinary unenlightened beings, we are bound to have negative thoughts often in our daily life. One must realise that those thoughts are not us, not the True Self (Buddha nature). Although we create them with the mind, they don't represent our true essence. Hence, whatever thoughts we have, do not be identified with them and do not be attached to them.

Simply focusing our mind on Amituofo (Amitabha Buddha) - Infinite Light and Life, reminding ourselves of the Buddha nature in us and all beings. As our practice deepens, our mindfulness will grow, and we can quickly transform negative thoughts into the Name of Amitabha Buddha, so we will not be trapped or tricked by our volatile negative thoughts and emotions, which are all illusions in nature (temporary). Like the clouds in the sky, they come and go, if one is not attached, one will not be trapped by illusions.
