FAQ: What’s single-minded Nianfo as mentioned in the Amitabha Sutra? 

“Single-minded” as mentioned in the Amitabha Sutra doesn’t mean that one cannot have other thoughts, rather one can have other thoughts without attachment to them. One simply focuses on the name of Amitabha Buddha when Nianfo and does not get distracted by other thoughts. This is what single-minded Nianfo means in the Amitabha Sutra. Amituofo
