FAQ: Is the Amitabha Buddha in the Pure Land the Dharmabody (Dharmakaya), Reward Body (Sambhogakaya) or the emanation body? (Nirmanakaya)?

This is a slightly technical question. The Amitabha Buddha you will see in the Pure Land is His Reward Body (Sambhogakaya), also known as the enjoyment, the bliss body. It is the reward that a being has cultivated for countless eons and accumulated infinite merit and virtue, so one can manifest in the Reward Body (similar to the Buddha statues we see with all sorts of adornments, but in reality much much bigger, the height of Amitabha Buddha in the Pure Land is beyond what we can imagine, as described in the Visualisation Sutra). By saying that the Buddha's three bodies (Trikaya) are also not separated - they are also one. The Dharmakaya (Dharmabody, the absolute truth body, also the Buddha-nature) is everywhere, and Nirmanakaya (emanation body) is the body the Buddha will have in the worlds of ten directions to help teach sentient beings. The three bodies are also in one. But in terms of the form of Amitabha Buddha you will see in the Pure Land, it will be his Reward Body. Again remember, the three bodies are also not separate, as the source is from the Dharmabody. Amituofo.
