Rebirth of Zheng Muqing of the Tang Dynasty

Zheng Muqing, a native of Xingyang County, Henan, his whole family all practiced the Pure Land dharma gate. During the reign of Emperor Xuanzong in the Kaiyuan era (713–741 CE), Zheng Muqing fell gravely ill. Someone advised him to eat fish and meat, but Zheng Muqing firmly refused. Instead, he held an incense burner in his hands, wholeheartedly focusing on rebirth in the Western Pure Land. Suddenly, a fragrance filled the air, strong and extraordinary. Shortly afterwards, he attained rebirth. Later, his uncle, Minister Su Ting, dreamed of a precious lotus blossom blooming, with Zheng Muqing seated atop the lotus. (The Buddha’s Chronicle)
