Rebirth of Wei Shizi of the Liu Song Dynasty
Wei Shizi, a native of Liang Prefecture (northeast of modern Hefei, Anhui), was born during the Liu Song dynasty. He diligently practiced and followed Buddhist teachings, and he guided his children towards the Pure Land path. However, his wife did not believe in Buddhism. Later, his daughter fell ill and passed away. Seven days after her death, she revived and climbed onto a high seat, where she recited the Sutra of Infinite Life. After descending, she told her father: "After my death, I was reborn in Amitabha Buddha’s Pure Land. I, along with you (my father), and my elder brother, each have a great lotus flower in the lotus pond. We will be reborn in the Pure Land. But mother does not have a lotus flower there, which deeply saddens me. I came back specifically to tell you this." After saying this, she passed away again. From that moment on, her mother also began to practice and follow Buddhist teachings. (Records of Miraculous Events in the Netherworld, or Ming Xiang Ji)
