Rebirth of The Wife of Wen Jingwen, of the Tang Dynasty

The wife of Wen Jingwen, a native of Bingzhou (modern-day Zhengding, Hebei). She had been bedridden for a long time due to illness, so her husband taught her to recite Amitabha Buddha’s name, and she began to do so. For two years, she silently recited Amitabha Buddha’s name every day without interruption.

One day, she told her husband, “I have seen Amitabha Buddha. Next month, I will definitely attain rebirth.” Three days before her rebirth, a lotus that seemed as large as the sun appeared before her. On the day of her rebirth, she prepared a feast to honour her parents and said, “I am fortunate to be reborn in the Pure Land. I hope my parents and husband will devote themselves to reciting Amitabha Buddha’s name so we can meet again soon in the Pure Land.” She then attained rebirth. (Pure Land Writings)
