FAQ: How can I at the time of death recite the name of Amitabha Buddha, remember to have faith and vow to go to His Pure Land, all at the same time? It seems it’s a lot to do at the time of death.

While we may talk about faith, vow and practice separately, they are really three in one. When we recite the name of Amitabha Buddha with a sincere heart, it also includes our faith and vow already, without needing to think about them separately.

A metaphor for this would be when you are entering the password of your bank card and want to withdraw money from the ATM, you just believe this is the right password (faith), and with the password you know you can withdraw the amount of money you want. You don’t have to think separately about all these; the act of entering the password/remembering the password include the faith as mentioned earlier. (our one thought can contain many thoughts already in case you haven’t noticed how often when we think of one thought it already contains many thoughts)
