FAQ: Why is the Pure Land in the West?

This is a good question. In the Universe there are actually no directions, east and west are relative. The reason why the Pure Land is in the west is because the west is the direction of where the sunsets and it is also a metaphor to signify this is where we will go home at the end of this life, to Amitabha Buddha’s Pure Land, hence the Buddha told us the Pure Land is to the west of this world. Namo Amituofo.
