Birthday of Bodhisattva Manjusri

Today is the birthday of Bodhisattva Manjusri (文殊师利菩萨)in Chinese Mahayana Buddhism.

Bodhisattva Manjusri represents the great wisdom of Sunyata (Emptiness, all things are empty of intrinsic existence, which means all things are changing all the time without a permanent fixed nature).

In the final chapter of Avatamsaka Sutra (Flower Adornment Sutra), Bodhisattva Samantabhadra and Bodhisattva Manjusri led all the highly enlightened bodhisattvas to all vow to go to Amitabha Buddha’s Pure Land.

This is really the Bodhisattva’s performance and compassion to show us this is indeed the right path to follow and eventually all Dharma gates will lead to the Pure Land Dharma, and even the highest level of enlightened bodhisattvas will go to the Pure Land (to expedite Buddhahood), what says about us ordinary enlightened beings? May all beings hear the Name of Amitabha Buddha and be reborn in the Pure Land.

Namo Great Wisdom Bodhisattva Manjusri!

Namo Great Compassionate Amitabha Buddha!
